Sock Drive

Message from the Grade 6 Class

What does a pair of socks have to do with the Bible?
Actually, quite a lot. In the book of Mathew, Jesus speaks a couple of times about how giving something to someone in need, like a cup of water or clothing, (Matthew 25:40) is like as if you are giving it to Jesus.

Whether someone donated one pair of socks or 100 pairs, or gave 10 cents or $100.00, know that if it was given from the heart, that person showed Jesus’ love to someone in need. But more importantly, we are called to pray for those who will receive these socks.

It has been a cold, wet, snowy winter so far. Who would have thought that once again this year our Sock Drive would be such a blessing to so many people? This year we donated an amazing amount of 3 991 pairs of socks!

Already staff workers at Union Gospel Mission have been able to give some of these donations away to those in need. Thank you again and God bless you as we “think globally, act locally and pray!
