INTRAMURAL PROGRAM
The entire student body is divided into four house teams. The house teams compete in various activities such as sports, reading program, academic based competitions, and end with the finale, Sports Day! Each house team works together to gain points throughout the year. Students in grade 6 and 7 are house leaders. They learn leadership skills and how to take care of younger teammates. The houses are encouraged to display good sportsmanship, team spirit, as well as do their best to win points for their teams. At the end of the year, the winning house is awarded the Kushnir Cup at our closing ceremonies.
BAND
Our school band program is open to students in grades 4 to 7. Students can choose from a range of wind, brass or percussion instruments. Beginner band members start out in our Junior Band program and then continue further into our Senior Band. This provides a great opportunity for students to learn a musical instrument and perform during different special occasions in the school year.
Clubs
Each year, various clubs and after school activities are sponsored by CCA staff. Activities vary depending on the interest of our staff and students. Some of these extra-curricular activities include card making club, games club, after school sports such as volleyball, basketball and Ultimate frisbee. Students participating in these extra curricular activities have the opportunity to learn a new skill and work together as a team outside of the classroom and with students of different grades.
After School Extended Care Program
The After School Extended Care Program is available from 3:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to parents who are not available to pick up their children after school. In a more relaxed, activity oriented atmosphere, students will have a snack and time to do homework. There are different centre activities for students who have completed their home assignments, such as reading centres, arts & craft activities, special projects, imaginative play, and time in the gym.
Hot Lunch Program
Our optional hot lunch program is available during the school year on a daily basis. The hot lunch staff prepare a variety of western and Asian menu items every month. For a nominal cost, a nutritious lunch is available to our students. (Please note - lunches do not cater to students with food allergies.)
